As we’ve come to understand year after year, day after day even, death is unfortunately an inevitable part of life. Still, as much of a fact as that may be, the blow of experiencing loss never gets any easier, nor does reporting on the subject in Black culture.

Singer Angela Bofill, known for the hits “This Time I’ll Be Sweeter”, “Angel of the Night”, and “I Try” has passed away. The news was confirmed on her official Social media accounts.

A cause of death is not known at this time, but Bofill has publicly dealt with health issues in the past few years, including a 2006 stroke that left her partially paralyzed and effectively forced her to retire from active performing.

The Brooklyn-born, Bronx-bred beauty dazzled audiences with her smooth vocals and feisty personality throughout her 40-year career. Breaking through in the mid-1970s, Bofill released 10 studio album.

Singers Melba Moore and Maysa Leak are among the celebs who have paid respects to the late singer. Bofill was 70 years old.
