Former Dallas Cowboys running back and Super Bowl VI champion, Duane Thomas, has passed at 77 years-old, as reported by his family. He passed Tuesday, August 4, there was no immediate mention of a death cause.
Duane scored the first touchdown in Texas Stadium and had the leading rushing yards his rookie year. After starting for West Texas State University, Thomas was selected with the 23rd overall pick in the 1970 NFL Draft.
In 1971, Thomas led the league in rushing with 793 yards and 11 touchdowns while appearing in 11 games, starting 10 of them. On top of that, he scored twice on 13 receptions for 153 yards.
Duane influenced many people by encouraging them and even fans of celebrities such as Denzel Washington as he made an appearance at training camp August 2015. Duane loved his family, his fans and the art of football!
