As we’ve come to understand year after year, day after day even, death is unfortunately an inevitable part of life. Still, as much of a fact as that may be, the blow of experiencing loss never gets any easier, nor does reporting on the subject in Black culture.
We are sad to report that Tito Jackson, that legendary musician and member of the Jackson musical dynasty, reportedly passed away at 70.
Longtime family friend and former manager Steve Manning confirmed the news to Entertainment Tonight that Jackson passed away on Sept. 15. An official cause of death has not been confirmed. However, Manning believes that Jackson suffered a heart attack while driving from New Mexico to Oklahoma.
Before his passing, Tito continued to perform with the surviving Jackson brothers, having performed as recently as last month as part of their 2024 tour.
Jackson leaves behind his three sons Taj, Taryll, and TJ – who comprised the R&B/Pop group 3T – and nine grandchildren.
