The Justice Department released information today confirming that they’ve thwarted an Iranian plan to assassinate Donald Trump.
According to a CNN report, court documents state that Farhad Shakeri, from Iran, was asked by Iranian officials in September to figure out a way to kill the president-elect.
In addition to Shakeri, two other people have been charged. Carlisle Rivera and Jonathon Loadholt, both American citizens, are currently detained in New York. They’re accused of “helping the Iranian government surveil a separate US citizen of Iranian origin.”
Shakeri is not currently in police custody, and is reportedly at large in Iran.
A US drone strike, ordered by Trump in 2020, killed Gen. Qasem Soleimani, a high ranking member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
According to Newsweek there have already been four confirmed assanation attempts against Donald Trump.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
