The much-anticipated interview between Ray J and Pastor Jamal Bryant has fans concerned for the singer’s mental well-being.
Ray J, who days ago warned Bryant not to release the interview, details a dark moment in Mexico that almost ended his life.
On The Jamal Bryant Podcast: Let’s Be Clear podcast, the One Wish singer spoke about finding himself on a roof in Cancun.

“I climbed off the roof, and I went off to the side of the roof, and I just laid down,” Ray J told Pastor Bryant. “I climbed over and I laid, and I went to sleep, and I said, ‘If I fall off, then it was meant to be.’” He then describes how he slept for roughly two and a half hours before being found by hotel staff. Then he details how he was forced to “go do these tests” after they found him.
Ray J confirmed that he’s had several suicidal thoughts over the years, but that this was his first actual attempt.
The interview was made public after a somewhat tumultuous week for the R&B singer. Earlier this week he threatened Pastor Bryant with violence, warning him not to release the interview. Days later Ray J issued a heartfelt apology to the pastor.
In the apology, Ray J acknowledged that his language towards the pastor was simply wrong. “Speaking that kind of language to a pastor is unbelievable, it’s uncalled for, it’s disrespectful, it’s distasteful, it’s disgraceful in every sense.”
