Sadly, that doesn’t seem to be the case by a long shot. According to an exclusive report coming from The U.S. Sun, Williams’ guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, and her legal team are stating that her early-onset dementia, and we quote, “has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.”
The unfortunate update stems from court filings in the ongoing battle against Lifetime Network over their Where is Wendy Williams? documentary released back in February of this year. More on the shocking report below, via The U.S. Sun:
“The filing further states, ‘In January 2022, after becoming aware of a pattern of disturbing events concerning [Wendy’s] welfare and finances, Wells Fargo took the highly unusual step of initiating a guardianship proceeding on its own initiative in the Supreme Court of New York, New York County (the ‘Guardianship Proceeding’), to seek the court appointment of an independent guardian for [Wendy’s] financial affairs.’
In the document, the guardian’s legal team pleads to the court for certain portions of the case about Wendy’s “health, familial relationships, and finances” to be redacted to protect her privacy.
‘We respectfully request that the Court grant Plaintiff’s motion for limited redactions to protect non-public information from the Guardianship Proceeding that has been placed under seal by the court overseeing that proceeding,’ the papers continued.”
Morrissey and team originally tried to put a hold on the initial release of Where is Wendy Williams?, however an appellate judge denied the request by stating it was “impermissible prior restraint on speech that violates the First Amendment of the institution.” The lawsuit was first filed on February 20, however Morrissey failed to serve the Original Complaint. She then refiled an amended complaint just a few months ago on September 16, and in October it was moved from New York Supreme Court to federal court. Defendants are currently hitting Wendy’s guardian with a countersuit.
As always, we will continue to pray for a swift recovery even if a reboot of The Wendy Williams Show isn’t included in the plan. We just want to see an influential Black woman from our culture healthy again.
