As wildfires continue to devastate parts of Los Angeles County, local communities are coming together to support recovery efforts. From providing essential resources to volunteering on the front lines, there are countless ways to help those impacted by the fires.
On Jan. 7, an ongoing series of catastrophic wildfires began to impact the Los Angeles metropolitan area and surrounding regions. More specifically, communities in the Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena were hit the hardest.
Since the start last week, at least 24 deaths have been reported in the Los Angeles fires as two major blazes continue to burn across the sprawling Californian city. This is a heartbreaking time for the LA community. Many people and organizations are joining forces to support with helpful resources. Some foundations are raising money. Others are collecting donations. Many LA residents are also prioritizing service by volunteering at this time. the time to volunteer.
Everyone’s doing their part to make this time less burdensome. We have curated an ongoing list of resources for those affected by the fires and those who wish to help. We will continue to update this list as more resources and opportunities become available.
Additionally, organizations like 211 LA County and FEMA are available to help connect families with long-term housing and financial aid.
Recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. Follow local news outlets and community organizations for updates on how you can continue to support fire victims.
