Urban One, the largest distributor of urban content in the country, issued a formal statement in response to the ongoing wildfires in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan region:
All of us at Urban One extend our deepest condolences to the individuals, families and communities that have experienced hardship and unimaginable loss in connection to the recent Los Angeles-area wildfires. More than 12,000 homes, schools and businesses have been destroyed across Los Angeles County, with over 7,000 in Altadena alone, an area of historical significance for the Black community.
“From the ashes, new life will rise.”
The road to rebuilding and restoration spans time and will require the partnership of organizations and financial resources to help everyone affected. At Urban One, building community is our guiding star. To address this crisis, we are joining forces with Brotherhood Crusade to drive donations to assist victims to secure shelter, clothing food, personal care products and necessities and to raise awareness of recovery and rebuilding efforts across communities in Los Angeles County and Altadena.
As a unifying force in Black and Urban communities, we are committing to an ongoing partnership with Brotherhood Crusade that will be inclusive of opening our entire suite of media platforms across the company; TV One, CLEO TV, Radio One, Reach Media and iONE Digital, allowing us to follow rebuilding efforts and to highlight the greatest that humanity has to offer by telling those stories through podcast interviews, editorial, video and social coverage.
We welcome you to join us in helping these communities rebuild.
