Rapper and Actor Gene “Groove” Allen passed away suddenly on Wednesday (February 12th) at his home.

Allen rose to fame as a member of the 1980s Hip-Hop group Groove B. Chill, alongside Darryl “Chill” Mitchell and Belal “DJ Belal” Miller. The group gained recognition with their 1990 album Starting From Zero, which featured the hit single “Hip Hop Music.”
Allen also made a mark in film, particularly with his role in the cult classic House Party (1990) and its sequel House Party 2 (1991). Allen played Groove (Rap Name), the person who danced with Kid but was too drunk to finish, leading to one of the film’s most iconic scenes.
Allen was 63 years old.
