The 77-year-old state representative said he is introducing impeachment articles against Donald Trump after the president revealed his plan for the U.S. to “take over” Gaza.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. and injustice in Gaza is a threat to justice in the United States of America,” Green said. “I rise to announce that the movement to impeach the president has begun. I rise to announce that I will bring articles of impeachment against the president for dastardly deeds proposed and dastardly deeds done.”

“The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip,” Trump said in a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “We’ll own it … We have an opportunity to do something that could be phenomenal … the Riviera of the Middle East.”

For those keeping score, Donald Trump is the only president who has ever been impeached twice.

Trump’s first impeachment followed a formal House inquiry that found Trump solicited foreign interference in the 2020 U.S. presidential election to help his re-election bid, and had then obstructed the inquiry itself by telling his administration officials to ignore subpoenas for documents and testimony.

The second time came in 2021, after The U.S. House charged Trump with inciting violent rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol, temporarily derailing the tally of presidential votes and leading to at least five deaths.
