Trump Wants Probe Into Beyoncé, Springsteen on Harris Campaign

Donald Trump is calling on federal authorities to investigate Beyoncé and Bruce Springsteen for what he claims are potentially illegal contributions to Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign.

In a Truth Social post, Trump accused the Harris campaign of hiding campaign contributions as payments for entertainment. He pointed to a $75,000 payment to Bruce Springsteen’s production company, a $1 million payment to Oprah Winfrey’s company, and a $165,000 payment to Beyoncé’s team. Trump alleged that these payments may not have covered only production costs but served as “disguised contributions.”

“They should all be investigated for their role in what is turning out to be a major scandal,” Trump wrote.

Harris campaign officials responded by defending the payments, saying they covered travel and production services for official campaign events. The campaign denied paying celebrities for endorsements, which would violate federal election law.

Springsteen performed at a Philadelphia rally on October 28, 2024, where former President Barack Obama also spoke. Beyoncé appeared at a rally in Houston three days earlier. Both artists have supported Democratic candidates in previous elections.

Campaign finance experts noted that while campaigns can pay for services like travel and production, they cannot pay celebrities for public support. Trump’s demand hinges on whether these payments actually crossed that legal line.

Despite raising over $1 billion, Harris’s campaign failed to win critical battleground states in the 2024 election. Trump has continued to challenge various aspects of the campaign, including how it used celebrity influence.

As of now, the Federal Election Commission has not announced any investigation or review related to Trump’s claims.
